Abstract

A rail-highway grade orossing safecty program is presented.The program includes guidelines for:a- The establishment of an inventory of rail-highway grade crossings.b- The establisment of diagnostic teams comprised of representatives of all interest groups to consider on-the-scene improvements at grade crossings. c- The improvement of sight distance at grade crossings. d- The implementation of an action program to previde required protection for selected crossings. e- Methodology for computing a hazard index of all rail-highway grade crossings. Relevant studies investigators made on these problems are mentoned.
