Abstract

A train and a schoolbus collided on a level crossing by which 2 persons were killed and 1 was injured seriously. The probable cause of the accident was the inadequate standards for certifying nonpublic schoolbus drivers, insufficient training and testing programs, and the limited experience of the schoolbus driver. Contributing was the absence of a stop line on the westbound approach to the grade crossing.
