In this paper, results are presented from research on the valuation of direct and indirect use of space by infrastructure, and on the costs resulting from fragmentation of landscapes by infrastructure and traffic. The costs resulting from the use of space and fragmentation are distributed over the relevant transport types and the results from a supplement to the results from previous research done by the Dutch Centre for Energy Conservation and Environmental Technology (CE). Costs resulting from the direct and indirect use of space by infrastructure appear to be a significant part of total costs per transport type. (A)
