Abstract

Motorway traffic counts in 5 West- European countries were statistically evaluated, and results are briefly discussed. Analysis of variance has been applied to type of day, hour of day and road surface, and to the distribution of average speed to total volume and percentage heavy vehicles. Economic costs of loss of time in traffic congestion is also compared to cost of road improvement. Comparison is also made with 1955 results.
