Abstract

From a study in 1981 was concluded that the percentage of users of safety belts in the province of Friesland was rather low. Police and officials did not take strong actions against it, due to different motivations. Therefore stimulation activities were aimed not to the public but to the police, and other intermediaries like driving instruc- tors. The main result from the safety belt campaign presented here is that the road user can modify his attitude. Another result is that the police has paid attention in the campaign to injury prevention.
