Abstract

Accidents of heavy vehicles i.e. lorries, buses and tractors have been studied to find out features typical of these accidents. Factors contributing to the accidents were divided in those concerning the driver, the vehicle and the environment. Factors concerning the environment were present with heavy vehicles twice as often as with cars involved in the accidents. Slippery road conditions were particularly frequent among the causes of the accidents involving articulated lorries (trailers and semi-trailers) and buses.
