Abstract

The primary purpose of this presentation is to describe a rating procedure that was developed to evaluate the quality of application of the preventive maintenance treatments to flexible pavements. Rating trees were developed for the three maintenance treatments that were placed under contract: chip seals, slurry seals and crack sealing. Only the chip seal rating is described in this paper. The development of rating trees, including assignment of weights and rating values, is described together with the attributes for the treatment. The mathematical operations are also presented with an illustrative example of calculations.
