Abstract

It is concluded that it is possible to reduce energy consumption of motor vehicles. The following steps are proposed: coordination of fiscal policies as regards motor vehicles and fuel in member countries, possibility of applying a specific legislation, influence of regulations governing safety, emissions and lead content of petrol on fuel consumption, encouragement for industries to produce vehicles using less fuel, and assistance in multi disciplinary investigations.
