Abstract
Recommendations have been established based on a rationale for development of a set of minimum recommended skid numbers, which are a compromise in that they do not reflect specific demands for friction nor take into account disproportionate measurement errors for specific road conditions. The skid resistance requirements (skid numbers) at various speeds are discussed.
