Abstract

A kinetical study is reported on the reaction between aqueous sulfuric acid and 0,4 to 1,0 M solutions of tri-n-octilamine (TOA) in chloroform. The results are interpreted in terms of a reaction mechanism in which two types of the intermediate TOAH + ion are distinguished. A hypothetical explanation is offered for the distinction between the two intermediates.
