Abstract

The recent development of city transportation systems with completely automatic control gives rise to thoughts of the public reaction concerning such systems. After having recalled why automation has been applied to transportation systems, and what benefits the operators expect, the article recalls what the public appreciates and what it expects from an urban transportation system.
