Abstract

This paper presents a real time prediction-based safe driving assisting system. The system could help a driver perceive potential dangers in near future. System architecture with information dynamics was designed for the development of system prototype. Two key issues for prediction were discussed: (1) how to predict real time traffic safety states according to vehicle's dynamic spatial position; (2) how to define time for announcing prediction. A new solution based on the integration of geographic information systems (GIS) and Intelligent Agent was proposed and tested. The result of experiment shows that the new approach could provide several actual user services with supporting of current technologies.
