Abstract

The paper focuses on the work which was carried out in the DRIVE projects TFEDRM and EDRM2 and which concerned the development of GDF (Geographical Data Format) as a standard for digital road maps. Special attention is given to the actual creation of the European Digital Road Map which was made possible by the standard. It further points to future market possibilities which are made possible through the availability of a uniform source of European Geographical Information.
