Abstract

Extraversion and Neuroticism scores on the Maudsley personality Inventory were related to the accident and violation records of a representative sample of 113 20-23 yr old male drivers. A significant positive correlation was found between Extraversion and accidents, particularly nonintersection accidents. A similar significant positive correlation between Extraversion and violations may have been confounded with exposure. Neuroticsm appeared to be realted to accidents only in extreme Ss and when considered simultaneously with Extraversion.
