Recent developments in car ownership in The Netherlands

Abstract

Throughout the developed countries of the world, interest in the analysis of car ownership has been maintained at a high level, aiding studies of energy, pollution, employment, balance of payments and traveller behaviour. The recent economic difficulties in The Netherlands make the study of car ownership particularly relevant to government policy and interesting for analyses. The paper presents a brief analyses of some new data and goes on to discuss the implications of this analyses for the studies that have been undertaken.
