Abstract

This paper presents an investigation into driver's license holding and car ownership for men and women per year-of-birth class, at the basis of which forecasts can be made for car ownership as a function of especially demographic trends. The influence of economic trends must be assessed by future complementary research into market segments particularly sensitive to income changes, like young people of about 18 years of age, elderly people of about 65, and owners of second cars.
