Abstract

Recent figures are presented on commuting related to medium-sized Dutch towns (50. 000 to 200. 000 inh) . These figures stem from the by-yearly national labour force survey held in 1981, 1983 and 1985. The findings with respect to the medium-sized cities are compared with the national average as well as with the figures relating to the four large towns (more than 200. 000 inh) . Inter-urban commuting appears to have increased by about 15% in the last four years; the share of the car for inter-urban trips remained unchanged.
