Abstract

During the phase ii of eec biomechanics programme, two pedestrian accidents were selected and reconstructed 3 times each with a dummy and 3 times each with human cadavers. These 6 tests are a part of pedestrian accidents programme made in the frame of joint biomechanical research project - kob - for which 29 dummy tests and 26 cadaver tests of 9 pedestrian accidents were performed. By comparison between the actual accident and the reconstruction with dummy and with cadavers it is possible to validate the reconstructions and to evaluate the human tolerance and the corresponding protection criteria in pedestrian impacts.
