Abstract

Research into the weekday, week end and holiday recreation has shown that working people and lesser employees travel less, and less far away from the cities, than the more well-to-do. The intensive use of motor cars for this purpose has brought about changes in what is regarded as city and what as fringe. The fringe is here defined as the territory over which extend the establishments really connected with the city in the eyes of the urban dwellers themselves.
