Abstract

Seven recreational trip purposes that are characteristic for the State of Washington have been identified in this study. The analysis has been performed basically for the spatial and temporal distribution of recreational trips. The identification of factors influencing recreational trip distribution revealed that the attractiveness of a recreation area as perceived by the user is a very significant influencing factor. The analysis further indicated that the travel time between trip-production and trip-attraction zones has a significant influence on the distribution pattern of recreation trips.
