Abstract

This paper gives a picture of recreational cycling in the Netherlands, including the often hardly considered economical aspects of the matter. Recreational cycling is of tremendous touristic, and thus of economic importance. By building recreational cycle paths and by promoting bicycle tourism it is the region which originally did not play a very important economic role that can benefit economically.
