Abstract

A routine task essential to the operation of a Personal Rapid Transit system is the redistribution of empty vehicles among the stations of the system, so that vehicles will be available when and where they are needed. Problems associated with this task are discussed, the prediction of future surpluses and deficits of empty vehicles at stations being emphasized.
