Reducing accidents by selective enforcement.

Abstract

The authors discuss the use of computerized accident data for improving methods of police surveillance and selective enforcement. Details are given of a system which uses a "collision index" for indentifying intersections and stretches of road with a high accident frequency, together with time and violation factors.
