Abstract

The paper deals with the determination of the critical point when overtaking and the necessary sight distance. A new approach to the safe overtaking modeling based on driver's behaviour is presented. Definitions of safe giving up section and safe overtaking ending section are given. A new criterion of safe overtaking has been defined, which is based on the mutual position analysis of these sections.
