Abstract

Wind tunnel tests of 1/12 scale models of 55 ft and 65 ft truckaway units have been made. Various modifications were made in an attempt to reduce aerodynamic drag. The most significant reduction in drag was obtained for cross wind conditions by the use of various side panels. The more completely the cross flow between the automobiles on the truck was blocked, the greater the reduction in drag. This should result in fuel savings of about 10 to 15 %.
