Abstract

Realizing an environmentally friendly cargo transportation system is one of the important elements for realizing a sustainable society. The authorshave been considering a way to upgrade a logistics system as a part of the activities of the Special committee on next-generation transportation and logistics. Last year we simulated the effects of some measures for reducing CO2 emissions and presented the possibility of a 50% reduction in the CO2 emissions that are produced by cargo transportation. This paper introduces specific measures of cooperative transport that have been actually conducted by the special committee members, and presents an evaluation of the effects.
