Abstract

This regional working plan for road safety in the Dutch province of Flevoland describes the projects to be conducted in 2003, and presents the budgets allocated to them. The working plan is based on the Flevoland long-range road safety programme for the period 2001-2005. The subject areas for special attention included in this programme are: primary schools, secondary schools, (light-) moped riders, traffic knowledge and driving ability, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, speed control, safety devices, and general publicity. The projects are described per subject area. In the working plan, only projects are described that make use of the instruments of education, communication, and enforcement. Attention is paid to the budget provided each year by the Ministry of Transport to the Flevoland Transport Board to implement projects and activities that are part of the regional working plan. The starting points used by the Flevoland Transport Board in allocating financial contributions to the various projects are dealt with. Attention is also paid to the communication around the projects of the working plan.
