Abstract

This paper describes how public transportation agencies in the Puget Sound region of Washington State have instituted a regional reduced fare permit for elderly and disabled persons. Standard age and disability criteria among the several agencies have eliminated the need for elderly and disabled rider to apply for multiple permits in order to receive the reduced farebenefits of the respective agencies. The regional permit facilitates interagency and intermodal travel throughout the region for this segment of the public transportation market.
