Regional road safety improvement programmes in Poland : a new experience.

Abstract

The authors of this paper have been involved in the development of regional road safety improvement programmes. The aim was to both make sure that consideration was given to the specific characteristics of the region and at the same time include the assumptions of the Polish national safety programme and also to adjust this national programme to the local road safety problems. The paper presents the processes involved setting the goals, identifying the problems and activities. Finally, successes and failures of implemented programs are presented.
