Abstract

Some mathematical models for determining the lack of safety for crossing pedestrians are studied; three interpretations of the waiting-time model of W.F.Adams and the collision and injury chance model developed by the Fysika-winkel. With some carefulness can be stated that waiting times hardly correlate with the number of accidents per crossing. A plea is held to integrate the results of behavioural research with this kind of models.
