Abstract

The studies carried out by Little and Hall (see A. A. P. 2 -(1970)p. 35 /55) are discussed. Concluded is that their data do not in fact reject the author's hypothesis that accident frequency and severity are related to vehicle age. Various factors have to be taken into account and further studies are required to distinguish a pure age effect in pre-1967 vehicles from the effects of major safety improvements incorporated in later vehicles.
