Abstract

The specific object of the study is to define how the safety of the public transport operation can be improved with traffic management methods. The paper describes the public transport system (PTS) in Budapest and the traffic control methods currently in application in the city. The accident frequency in different PTS (bus, trolleybus, tram) is evaluated in the paper and compared for different applied control systems.
