Abstract

This paper describes a method for estimating the design hourly volume on arterial routes in the Sydney metropolitan area, based on information of annual average daily traffic (AADT) volume collected. Although the design hourly volume has been defined as the thirtieth highest hourly volume (30 HV) in the year, the method can also be used to estimate the peak-hour volume ranging from the thirtieth highest hourly volume to the hundredth highest hourly volume.
