Abstract

In order to explore the relationship between the learning experience and subsequent accident rates in more detail, a major cohort study was set up in 1988. The study comprises 6 component surveys and this paper outlines the methodology of the study and presents the results of the first component surveys to be conducted i. e. those of performance in the driving test and of the methods used in Great Britain in learning to drive.
