The relationship between velocity and the night driver's sighting distance.

Abstract

In the third of four studies mentioned in this publication the field of vision was portioned of a driver on a highway while the visibility was degraded. Drivers preferred information 75-100 feet away for velocity selection, and driver allowance for time was nearly linear with respect to preview distance and velocity.
