Abstract

The relationship between accident rate and access spacing along provincial highways was examined. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the operational characteristics of representative road sections, threshold values for access spacing weredetermined. From a comparison of roadway sections, potential mitigating techniques to reduce the accident rate are identified.
