Relationships between off-road fixed-object accident rates and roadway elements of urban highways.

Abstract

By means of aerial photography and field surveys data were collected an roadway and traffic characteristics. Rates of all types of accidents were determined by an examination of police accident records. Correlation and factor analyses, simple linear regression as well as stepwise multiple linear regression were used to establish relationships between roadway and traffic characteristics and accident rates.
