Abstract

This paper describes some of the technique,special equipment,and environments, used to evaluate the reliability and perfor-mance of General biotors vehicles and their components.Labora-tory test requiring use of pbotostress technique,dynamometersshakers,pressure cycling devices and controlled environmentsto evaluate the durability and reliability of suspension,struc-tural members,driveline components and windshield wipers andwashers are summarized. Brief descriptions of road tests andfacilities which are used to evaluate brake systeMs,differen-tials,transmissions,suspension assemblies,and body corrosion,are also provided. The froving Ground annual car durabilitytest is also described.
