Abstract

Since the services using wireless communication system evolve rapidly, the reliability issues become more important. The reliable wireless communication means that the system should be robust, transmission guaranteed, data loss free, fast fault (error) recovery, and provide the transparent communication independent of wireless characteristics such as intermittent disconnection and high latency. In this paper, design considerations and some mechanism for reliable wireless communication in AVLS (Automatic Vehicle Location System) are presented. To improve the communication reliability, layered communication architecture and several mechanisms like priority queues, states, and probability algorithm were adopted. For efficiency, the hybrid communication mechanism of different data transmission modes was used. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
