Abstract

The system of regranting driving licences for drinking driving offenders in Germany can be described as an effective instrument in regards to prevent re-offending. In different projects, measures are tested to optimate the present system. The report describes a treatment which has been tested in the city state of Hamburg during the past five years. The program integrates diagnosis, a psychoeducational treatment program and an assessment to regain the qualification during the disqualification period. Current results of evaluation will be presented. Based on interview data, the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment are discussed, as compared to the effects of conventional measures. (A)
