Abstract

Proposals for speed limits in Finland are presented. Speed limits shall be made permanent from 1978-10-01, with the following adjustments: (1) The speed limit 100 km/h should be allowed on two-lane roads more seldom than now; (2) The present base speed limit 80 km/h should be replaced with a maximum speed of 70 km/h; (3) The maximum allowed speed during the winter months should be lowered to 80 km/h; and (4) Speed limit of 120 km/h could be allowed on motorways.
