Abstract

Some 100 delegates from 37 universities and colleges of technology attended the conference, which was held at the Civil Defense Staff College at Sunninghill, Berkshire, on 5th- 7th July 1967. The fields of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, highway and traffic engineering, economics and statistics, physics, chemistry, mathematics and psychology were covered. The purpose of the conference was to consider how closer collaboration might be established between the universities and RRL. The 15 papers presented at the conference are published. The main topics were: Review of research at RRL and at the universities; Demand for training in highway and traffic engineering; Dissemination of research results; and present facilities for postgraduate courses in highway and traffic engineering at universities.
