Abstract

The use of Citizens Band radios by the motoring public has increased. Two previously reported programs have demonstrated that CB can be used to fulfil at some of the legitimate communications and real-time information needs of the travelling public, and that this can benefit transportation safety. A major urban CB monitoring program and a recently established rural-area CB monitoring program are discussed.
