Abstract

This report presents a synthesis of the knowledge and "rules of art" with respect to the field treatment of soils with lime and/or cementitious or pozzolanic binders as applied in road construction. The general points make a review of the technique, its advantages and main field of application, as well as some definition. The first part describes the materials involved, i.e. soils and treating agents, specifying for both of them the main parameters to be taken into consideration for the treatment. The second part describes the actions of treating agents on various types of soil. The third part develops the methodology of the laboratory studies to be carried out to determine the proportion of treating agent to be used. The fourth part deals in a brief way with practical aspects such as equipment and execution techniques. The fifth part deals with the aspects linked to specifications and controls specific to soil treatment activities and particularly with the points on which specifications must bear. Report is published in English and French. For the abstracts of the papers presented see C 25146 - C 25147 (IRRD 127728 - 127729).
