Reported accidents and the GP.

Abstract

A survey of GP treatment of New Road Traffic Accident Injuries was carried out across the whole of Dorset in July and August 1986. The aims of the study were to investigate the possible under- reporting of road injury related traffic accidents. The accuracy of accident data returns; and to increase the understanding of accidents with a view to improving prevention initiatives. Results showed a comparable scale of under- reporting (24 per cent) to earlier studies in urban hospitals.
