Abstract

The adequacy of Sharp's analysis to predict the dynamic behavior of the single-track vehicle is reviewed. This review indicates that the attainment of better agreement between theory and experiment will require that the tire of a motorcycle be described in greater detail, both from a static and dynamic point of view. Transient measurements of lateral force resulting from inclination indicate that a small component of this force is in phase with inclination angle whereas the remaining component lags the inclination angle.
