Abstract

Traffic fatalities are often analogised to medical problems. The underlying idea of this comparison is more normative than descriptive; the implication is that traffic fatalities ought to be dealt with socially, as diseases are dealt with, in a organized society. Still, methodological analogies between traffic safety research and medical research are not altogether absent.
