Abstract

Information networking brought about by the development of IT has created a new paradigm for the value of information, and is continuing to have a revolutionary impact on social systems. On the other hand, when considering automobiles, nearly all relevant information relating to the engine, fuel and operation can be detected in the form of digital information, and the use of that information realizes safe and comfortable driving, but the use of this information is limited to stand-alone applications such as vehicle control. The objective of this project, IPCar System, is to perceive automobiles as moving sensors, networking the information obtained from these moving sensors, and creating new value of information. This paper, as a basic study of IPCar System, examines the concept of IPCar System, extraction of information able to be gathered from in-car sensors and providing a summary of the results of experiments conducted to verify the system feasibility.
