Abstract

Research and problems in Japan relative to symbol evaluation is discussed. A strong public education campaign preceding implementation of the new system resulted in a high degree of public understanding and no great confusion among drivers. Research to the comparative visibility of various shapes indicated the equilateral triangle to be the best for the greatest distances. A discussion is added.
