Abstract

This research project was initiated with the purpose of assisting progress to the ultimate goal of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) adapted to needs associated with mobility in urban space via a wide range of transportation modes, including public transportation, automobiles, and walking. The work began with the selection of four cities as subjects for determination of human information use needs related to movement in urban space. The team conducted group interviews, a questionnaire survey, and a protocol analysis study with residents of these locations. As a result of examination of the findings, the five areas were identified as key perspectives to be applied in the preparation of ITS services. (A*)
